Helping youth with neurodiversity transition into adulthood

Why supporting with self-determination

The journey into adulthood for individuals with neurodiversity entails navigating distinct challenges. Providing appropriate support and resources to facilitate a smooth transition is crucial, including learning to organize and prioritize tasks, creating schedules that integrate your work/study time and your sensory break time/brain reset time, etc. By recognizing and embracing neurodiversity, society can create inclusive environments that empower individuals to thrive in adulthood.

Self-determination plays a vital role in the transition to adulthood, especially for individuals with neurodiversity. It involves developing the skills, knowledge, and confidence to make informed decisions, set goals, and take charge of one's life. By fostering self-determination, individuals can gain autonomy, advocate for their needs, and actively participate in shaping their future, leading to increased independence, fulfillment, and success in adulthood.
